I was thinking about leaving this page blank to symbolize our cleansing from sin
by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary, but I decided to use this page to talk about a very important part of
witnessing
Your Personal Testimony
Just the thought of giving a personal testimony has
many people thinking, but my conversion was not that dramatic.
Maybe I could use the testimony of that guy down the
street now his conversion was dramatic
He was In and out of prison
A Drug Addict
An Alcoholic
Then
he meets Jesus and boom he’s out there preaching the Gospel and sharing his faith like the next Billy Graham
Stop
a minute and catch your breath.
Yes, His tesitmony is important
But, guess what? Your Testimony Is Important Too!
Remember if you had no testimony you would not be a Christian
Write
out your testimony and try to remember what words or facts opened your eyes to the Truth of who Jesus Christ isand and that He died for your sins
Some of the truths you may want to
tell others depending upon the circumstances are:
What you were like before you met Jesus
What were the circumstances behind coming to the Lord? (How did you
come to the conclusion that Jesus is the Truth, Life and Way)
How a personal relationship with Jesus has changed your
life
And The
struggles that you still face, even now as a Chrsitian (it is important to show that as a Christian the only difference between you and them is that you
have given your life to the Lord)
This will give the other person the knowledge that being a Christian
does not mean that we live in a vacuum free from trials and temptations. It will also let the person know that as a
Christian we do not feel that we are above anybody else we still sin. The only difference is now we have faced the truth
of the Gospel and given our heart to the one who paid the price for our sin.
As I have said before when you deliver
the message remember the Bible tells us that we are given the power to speak the truth
Now armed with the knowledge
of what the Gospel is and your personal testimony you are now ready to reach the ultimate goal of witnessing
A changed
life
Remember as with the red page
You will want to pray to God about your friends and acquaintances
Ask
Him to open hearts and minds to be receptive to the truth
Remember witnessing is not pointing out someone’s faults
and telling them where they are going to go because of it
Witnessing is having a conversation about the Lord and what
he has done for you and me
A good example of this is Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well.
Jesus did not hunt her down and get in her face he led her through a series of questions about who the Savior was and what
that had to do with her. Then he pointed out that she was in need of that Savior and then her eyes were opened and she
put her faith and trust in the Lord
Jesus said we are fishers of men
Hunting is tracking something with the purpose of
going in for the kill
Fishing is laying out some bait and waiting for the fish to come to you
With Witnessing
you may only be able to plant the first seed a fruitful plant may come much later on
Remember witnessing
is not a numbers game. There is no one keeping score of how many people you help to find the Lord
The Bible
says that their is a purpose for everything under the sun.
Our urpose is to go and tell. The Lord will take care
of the rest
There are those times may never see the fruit of your labors, but remember without you planting the
seeds, someone else of God's choosing will not be able to do the culitvating and reaping.
There are also going to be
those people who you witness to that accept the Lord but do not acknowledge their conversion to you.
So again
do not be discouraged but in faith proclaim the Gospel,God will take care of the rest.
Remeber as Paul said:
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I
have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award
to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Now live your life for God, which is the meaning of the green
page in the wordless book
