Did you ever wonder where your abilities
come from?
Well
stop wondering you abilities come from God
John
15:5 says, “ apart from me you can do nothing”
That
statement by Jesus shows us that we are who we are because of God
He
gives to each person the abilities and talents they have.
That
is why Paul warns us in 1 Corinthians 4:7
What
makes you think you are better than anyone else? What do you have that God hasn’t
given to you? And if all you have is from God why boast as though you have accomplished something on your own?
There
are no self made people. God gives you your abilities and as a good steward you
are to use those abilities to serve Him
If your abilities come from God what does He expect you
to do with those abilities?
The
answer is to use them for His service.
Matthew
25:29 says, “ To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given”
This
verse is a reminder that we are to use whatever ability we have in services to the Lord and if we do we will be given even
more abilities to use.
The danger of attributing your abilities to yourself
Deuteronomy 8:11 says, Beware that in your plenty
you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey His commands.
What
do you see in this verse? The answer is a warning that we should not attribute
any of our abilities to ourselves because when we do we will start to forget the Lord and put our faith and trust in ourselves.
It is always a good thing to humble ourselves before the Lord and to daily thank Him
for what we can do and even what we are unable to do.
What if I have I limited abilities how can I serve the Lord?
God is not cornered with how able you re to perform
a certain task; He is more concerned with how well you faithfully make yourself available to the task at hand.
Remember
the parable of the talents, some people will only be given 1 talent but we are still to use that talent and faithfully serve
the Lord.
It
is not our ability that impresses God but our availability.
Zechariah 4:6 says, “It is not by force nor by strength,
but by my Spirit, says the Lord.
