What does the word repentance mean?

A.)  Why does God require us to repent?

Because without repentance there is no salvation

What does the act of repentance involve?

B.)  Why is repentance is a daily obligation?

1.) Believers are called to live by the Word of God which requires us each

day to turn away from sin and turn to God

2.) What if a believer sins?

The answer is found in 1 John 1:19 and Proverbs 28:13

3.) Once we confess our sins the Lord promises forgiveness and cleansing.

C.)  Without repentance there can be no restitution, why?

D.) Restitution involves what?

1.)    If you read Exodus Chapter 21 through Chapter 22 verse 15 you will see that

God required His believers to practice the act of restitution.  Restitution is again referred to in Proverbs 6:30-31 and Luke 3:7-14 and Luke 19:8-9, Take the time to read these verses.

2.)    If you read Matthew 5:23-24 you see that Jesus called us to make restitution with those we have offended before we come to worship God?

E.) Why is restitution such an important part of repentance?

Restitution sets believers apart and shows others that as believers we are truly sorry for

those wrongs we have committed against others.

             .

In closing: If we say we have repented and do not make restitution with others can we say that we have truly repented?
